Durian
Durio zibethinus Murr (scientific name: Durio zibethinus Murr) is a huge tropical evergreen tree with long round leaves and a pointed tip. It has cyme flowers of light color. The fruit is the size of a soccer ball.
Durian is one of the famous tropical fruits, originally from Malaysia. Some countries in Southeast Asia grow more, among which Thailand is the most. They are also grown in Guangdong and Hainan.
Durian is the most famous fruit in Thailand, known as the "king of fruits". Its smell is strong, love praise its fragrance, hate its stench.
It is said that during the Ming Dynasty in ancient China, when the sailing fleet arrived in Southeast Asia and tasted the local fruit, Zheng He highly appreciated the fruit. However, the fruit only ripens once a year, so it was named "nostalgia", which is a homophone for durian by later generations.
